PEOPLE AND BIOGAS

A manual on citizen involvement

It is all about biogas …..

... but the starting point for the IMPLEMENT manual is to shine a spotlight on human behaviour and to investigate the barriers and potentials - more than to collect technical achievements.

The manual will continuously look for and collect the experiences of the project partners concerning citizen involvement and creating local ownership. At the same time the manual on citizen involvement will complement the technical Cookbook for Implementing Biogas, developed by the Danish Innovation Network for Biomass INBIOM .

Samsø has for more than 15 years actively worked with citizen participation as an integral part of the efforts to implement a long row of energy projects. The lessons learned from Samsø are central in the structuring of the manual. At the same time, concrete cases telling good as well as bad experiences with citizen involvement will be collected.

The stories in the manual are selected in order to expose the many facets concerning the difficult art of involving the citizens.

In addition to general considerations about the importance of citizen involvement, the manual is divided into three phases;
